Kaweco Art Sport

The Kaweco Art Sport series is a variation of the Sport that is made of resin, instead of the usual ABS plastic. Usually the production is limited in time and had, so far, 3 generations.

Art Sport generation 1

The first generation of Kaweco Art Sport was released in 2003 and was discontinued in (2009?). The pens in this collection were named after music styles. This edition comprised four different colours: Blues, Mambo, Samba and Tango. They had a small brass insert in the barrel to add some extra weight for ergonomic purposes. They were available with 14kt gold or steel nibs. The production was limited for each colour but information on this numbers is not available. [1,10]

Art Sport generation 2

The second generation of Kaweco Art Sport was released in (2009?) and was discontinued in (2013?). The pens in this collection were named after rocks and gems. This edition comprised eight different colours: Aksehir, Alabaster, Amber, Amecitrin, Amethyst, Granit, Lapis and Rosit. There is no small brass insert in the barrel, that was present in the generation 1 pens. They were available only with steel nibs. The production was limited for each colour but information on this numbers is not available. [3,10]

Art Sport generation 3

The third generation of Kaweco Art Sport was released in 2018. The pens in this collection had names that described their colours. This edition comprised eleven different colours (some of them were available both with CT or GT: Dark Blue, Coral Red, Marble Green & Yellow, Marble Red, Metallic Green, Milk & Coffee, Perlmutt Orange, Metallic Turquoise, Real Blue, Tiger Eye and Violet.

These pens feature an extendend part on the section, above the threads. This little protrusion, going down inisde the barrel, don't allow for the cartriged to be stored inside in reverse; one can be stored but in the "right way". They were available only with steel nibs, but the screw fit nib and feed unit allows for an easy nib exchange.

The production was limited for a maximum of 1000 units of each colour. But I have information some of the colours were made in much lower numbers, making them really hard to find - the case with the Marble Green & Yellow. The pens retailed, at their release date for 169,50 €. Two reasons for the high price of these pens were: the resin blanks were made by Visconti (higher priced brand) and the materials were challenging to work and many were destroyed in the process, creating the need to raise the final price.
